A lightweight check to visualize decision fatigue from AI work
Brain Fry Checker
Brain Fry Checker is a lightweight self-checker that helps you visualize decision fatigue from AI work as a rough guideline. Using our original index, BFI (Brain Fry Index), it loosely reflects the load from overlapping decisions and overthinking—so you can decide when to take a break or call it a day.
Even if AI speeds up execution, the human side often faces concentrated decisions—what to accept, what to discard, how far to refine, and when to stop. When decisions pile up, it can lead to rework, lower-quality judgment, and “carryover” fatigue the next day.
Four components that make up BFI
- Decision density: how continuously you were making small comparisons, edits, and acceptance decisions
- Context switching: how often you moved between projects, tools, and topics (switching cost)
- Insufficient recovery: how much nonstop work and lack of sleep overlapped
- Warning signs (symptoms): whether signals like haziness, losing a stopping point, or sloppy judgment are showing
In short, BFI is not about “how much AI you used,” but a rough guideline for how much overlapping decision-making and decision fatigue may have accumulated.
Notes
- Brain Fry Checker / BFI is an original concept and index defined by this site.
- Brain Fry Checker does not provide medical or psychological diagnosis.
- Use the results only as a rough guideline to reflect on your current workload.
