1. Introduction
This policy describes how information is collected and used in the web service “Brain Fry Checker” (the “Service”). In this policy, “this site” refers to the website (the domain and its subpages) through which the Service is provided.
2. Information we collect
The Service may collect or generate information such as:
- Answers to questions (AI hours, project count, learning ratio, selected symptoms, etc.)
- Nickname (optional) and a processed display name for public display
- Results (BFI, level, and related display texts)
- Consent status (use for aggregated stats, public ranking, etc.)
- An identifier calculated from network information (we do not store IP addresses as-is; we store hashed values) and time buckets based on Japan Standard Time (JST) for aggregation and fraud prevention
- Analytics information (depending on the analytics tools used)
3. Information we do not store (policy)
We may reference IP addresses for identifying communication sources, but we do not store IP addresses in the database. We only store hashed identifiers generated by a predefined method.
4. Purposes of use
We use collected information for:
- Providing the Service, results display, aggregated display (e.g., Trends)
- Fraud prevention, abuse prevention, and quality improvement
- Service analytics and improvement, and support
- Compliance with laws
5. Storage and outsourcing
The Service uses third-party cloud services (e.g., Supabase and hosting providers) for data storage and infrastructure. Such providers handle information within the scope of outsourcing under our contracts and their privacy policies.
For analytics, we may use analytics features provided by the hosting provider or similar. In such cases, we follow each provider’s policies.
6. Cookies and ads
We may use cookies and similar technologies for quality improvement and fraud prevention. If ad placements are provided, ad providers may use cookies/identifiers. Please follow each provider’s opt-out guidance.
7. Third-party provision
We do not provide information to third parties without prior consent, except as required by law or otherwise permitted under applicable laws (including provisions related to “related information” under Japanese law).
8. Security
We take reasonable measures to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of information and to ensure appropriate security management.
9. Requests for disclosure, etc.
We handle requests for disclosure/correction/suspension, etc. in accordance with applicable laws. The request method will be announced within the Service.
10. Changes to this policy
We may change this policy in response to legal or service changes. The updated policy becomes effective when posted on the Service.
